Can you tell?

Can you find the real Alexis.....

Happy Halloween!!!

Pumpkin has become Alexis' favorite word over the last couple weeks. We have a few small fake Halloween decoration pumpkins around the house and we have a pumpkin man by the front door who Alexis likes to go visit to say "Hello" to. (Daddy has even learned that when Alexis randomly starts saying "bookcase" she actually either sees a pumpkin or wants to go visit pumpkin man. Don't ask how bookcase sounds like pumpkin, but when Alexis is saying it, it does) Anyways, for Halloween we had to dress her up as a pumpkin. She loved the pumpkin costume, but very much dislikes things on her head.

ICE CREAM!!

A week or so ago Helena and I got ice cream. We were eating it while playing with Alexis and, of course, she wanted some. We figured she'd like the sweetness, but weren't sure if she'd like the coldness of it. You can decide for yourself, but I think she liked it....

Alexis walks!

We've always known Alexis could walk by herself if she would just try, but she won't do it unless she is holding onto someone's hand. We've gotten her to take a couple steps on her own, but that's about it. This week after I brought Alexis home from daycare we were playing while waiting for Helena to come home. Alexis stood up (as she often does) and gave me a big smile. I figured, what the heck, and moved a few feet away from her and then encouraged her to walk to me. She did it perfectly! I thought she looked awfully stable for walking so I got up and moved farther away and Alexis followed. She "chased" me around the living room! She was having a good time and I figured Helena would never believe me when I told her what happened so I grabbed the video camera and got Alexis to walk a little bit more for me. It's a good thing I did, because once Helena got home Alexis refused to walk unless someone was holding her hand again. In fact, we haven't really been able to get her to walk by herself that much again since. It did happen though. Here's the video to prove it!

Welcome to our blog!

After seeing several other people post blogs, we thought we would do one since it's a good way to share pictures and videos. Here is a video of Alexis from a few months ago as she tries to learn to drink from a cup. (She gets a little over anxious and doesn't realize she has to slowly lift the cup to her face.....)
